SBA: National Small Business Week [Peak Cleaning + Thumbtack]

As a local Arizona small business - we're here and we're here to help. One of our core values is "Give First" meaning "We are a community centered company - we give back first and offer to help first. Being local and family-owned, we owe so much to the community for accepting us and allowing us to grow."

The beauty behind starting your own business is exactly that - getting to chose what you stand for and how you operate - however, running a small business is not without its own challenges. As we've seen, this year more than ever, challenges are right around the corner causing many businesses, ourselves included, to adapt, persevere, and push forward.

September 22-24th, the US SBA (Small Business Administration) is celebrating all small businesses and the innovation, resilience and perseverance they show. Peak Cleaning Service was honored to be recognized by Thumbtack as a leading small business and local pro and we were asked to share a few words about our experience this year:

Go above and beyond for customers Pre-COVID, Patryk Gawlak had a thriving family-owned residential cleaning business, with more than half of his income coming from vacation rental properties. When travel stopped and the cancellations started rolling in, his vacation property clients dropped nearly to zero almost overnight. To keep the other side of his business going, he quickly made adjustments to help his cleaners and customers feel safe and secure.

“Some of my regular clients were afraid to have people outside their family coming into the house. We offered additional deep-clean sanitizing services to help them feel at ease — high-touch areas, doorknobs, light switches — wore personal protective gear during cleanings and disinfected all cleaning equipment between jobs.”

While travel has picked up in Arizona, it’s nowhere near where it was — so Patryk continues to find ways to expand. Some of his latest clients include commercial properties getting set to reopen and apartment complexes that want to make sure everything is properly sanitized for their residents.

“It’s so important to support local businesses right now — it’s going to take time for things to pick up.”

What it means to think like a local Small businesses are the very lifeblood of our communities — with more than half of all Americans either owning or working for one. At a time when we are all staying closer to home, it’s crucial that we come together in support of these local entrepreneurs — by investing in their success we are ensuring our own.

Keeping The Small Business Dream Alive During The Pandemic

About National Small Business Week

For more than 50 years, the U.S. Small Business Administration has celebrated National Small Business Week (NSBW), which recognizes the critical contributions of America’s entrepreneurs and small business owners. This year is one unlike the half-century that has come before.

We are facing unique challenges together. However, American small businesses continue to play a central role in building a strong country, prepared for any obstacles in the future. More than half of Americans either own or work for a small business, and they create nearly two out of every three new jobs in the U.S. each year. As part of NSBW, the SBA takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners, and others who support entrepreneurship from all 50 states, Washington, D.C. and U.S. territories. Additionally, this year’s NSBW will recognize the small businesses who have navigated the coronavirus pandemic while supporting their employees and communities. There will be a number of presenters providing retooling and innovative practices for entrepreneurs as our nation’s small businesses look to pivot and recover towards a stronger economy.

Every day, they’re working to grow small businesses, create 21st-century jobs, drive innovation, and increase America’s global competitiveness.
